Register a Team

Clubs place teams with LCYBL each spring, and again for fall ball. This page is the whole process in order, with every form you need.

At a glance

Who registers: member clubs, not individual families. Players join through their local club, and the club enters teams with LCYBL.
Where it happens: the April coaches meeting. Meetings are at Penn Medicine Park, 650 North Prince St, Lancaster PA 17603.
Rosters lock: June 1st. After that date a roster cannot be changed.
Fall ball: no rosters required, and both bat standards are allowed.
Age groups: 8u, 10u, 12u and 14u, each split into sections.

Step 1 — Check your players' ages

Age determines which group a player is eligible for, and it is the first thing to settle because it decides how many teams you are entering.

Use the LCYBL Age Chart for the season you are registering for. The chart is published a season ahead, so confirm you are reading the right year.

Step 2 — Submit the Team and Coach Information Sheet

The Field, Team and Coach Information Sheet tells the league who is running each team and which field that team calls home. The league builds the schedule from it, so a wrong or missing field here shows up as a scheduling problem all season.

There is also an Information Sheet spreadsheet version, which is the one most clubs now use.

Step 3 — Submit your roster

The LCYBL Roster Form is due at the April coaches meeting.

Two rules govern who can be on it:

Boundary Rule — players are expected to come from your club's area. Read this before you build a roster, not after.
Double Roster Rule — governs when a player may appear on more than one roster.

Remember that rosters lock on June 1st.

Step 4 — Certificates

Child Protection Policy Certificate — required for coaches.
Catchers NOCSAE Chest Protector — the equipment standard catchers must meet.

Step 5 — Read the rules for your age group

Pitch counts are tracked all season. The league publishes a Pitch Count Log and a Pitch Tracker Log for that.

Key dates

The LCYBL Calendar and the meeting dates list set the season. The End of Season Dates document sets when play finishes and the playoff and year-end tournaments begin.

Fall ball

Fall ball runs on a lighter footing:

No rosters are required.
Both bat standards are allowed, unlike spring.
